Recently, Tanzu has been operating as a Division of Broadcom and continues to work on developing its solutions and optimising its go-to-market strategy. The Tanzu platform helps customers develop, manage, and optimise large-scale applications in private and public clouds with a focus on building better software.
VMware Tanzu is a complex of software products that allows you to create Kubernetes clusters in cloud and on-premise environments. This allows you to run Tanzu-based containers directly in a vSphere 7.0 environment (formerly known as Project Pacific).
The automated process of deploying Kubernetes clusters using the Cloud Director portal allows you to further configure the environment using API calls and access it using network-level rules.
The main functionality in the cloud environment allows you to quickly add several worker nodes to an existing cluster. Usually, this is enough for the cluster user, but the Cloud API allows you to further change the size of the cluster by increasing or decreasing the capacity of the nodes themselves. Thus, the client has the ability to flexibly manage the amount of computing resources in the cluster without deploying a new one to transfer workloads to it.
Cloud API provides more freedom and flexibility in cluster configuration. Organisational administrators can edit cluster size, connect persistent volumes, change the storage of an existing cluster, and fine-tune components in real time.
VMware Tanzu offers seamless integration of Kubernetes with vSphere 7.0, enabling virtual machines and containers to interact at the VMware ecosystem level. This makes it easy for existing Kubernetes organisations to migrate to the VMware ecosystem.
Creating and connecting a shared storage within a cluster for all working pods is also simplified thanks to specialised Kubernetes administration utilities. This solution can be useful when several pods or services access resources stored on such storages (persistent volume), which can be disconnected and added to another cluster.
Why does Broadcom continue to invest in Tanzu?
While Tanzu works across all clouds, Broadcom continues to invest in enhancements and integrations that make Tanzu the best platform for modern applications on the VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF). The Tanzu platform is an ideal complement to a private cloud because it enables applications to be built and deployed in days and weeks, not months or years.
VMware Tanzu enables businesses, their application development teams, and their platforms to develop, deploy, and optimise valuable software – quickly, seamlessly, and across a variety of environments.
